The Foothills Local Immigration Partnership is comprised of newcomer community members and key organizations across various sectors who engage in collaborative and locally-driven strategic planning to improve newcomer outcomes and strengthen the capacity of the community in supporting and welcoming newcomers.

Our Priorities

These strategic priorities are based on community assessments and newcomer surveys conducted in the Foothills. Each priority will have a working team comprised of organizations, community members and newcomers who are passionate about achieving their priority's outcomes and goals.

    • Newcomers have a clear pathway and are able to access the information they need to achieve their goals.

    • Community organizations, municipalities and businesses work together to support newcomer success.

    • Service providers collaborate in sharing clear and consistent messaging with newcomers.

    • Increased opportunities for newcomers to connect with neighbours, service providers and the broader community.

    • Newcomers form friendships and experience an increased sense of belonging.

    • Newcomers become active participants and contributors where they live.

    • All cultural communities are represented in community events and activities.

    • All residents embrace both differences and commonalities and are equipped to combat racism in their communities.

    • All residents recognize that each of us bring value to our communities.

    • Continuous learning, shared understanding and acknowledgement of our history for a stronger future together.

    • Newcomers are able to access information and supports for education, accreditation and training.

    • Newcomers can make a living for themselves

    • Businesses have a strengthened readiness to utilize and retain skilled newcomer talent.
